- Why is there a service fee?

The service fee is charged by BillMatrix, our third-party service provider, for the processing of your Quick Payment. MGU does not receive any portion of this fee.

- How is the service fee calculated?

The service fee charged is determined by whether you are a residential or commercial customer:

- How does Quick Payment differ from Automatic Payment?
- With Automatic Payment, you still receive a monthly billing statement through the mail. Payments are automatically deducted from your bank account each month.

When will my payment show up on my MGU account?
- Quick Payments made before 12:00 p.m. (noon) CT on a regular business day will post to your account after 7:00 p.m. CT that same day.
- Quick Payments made after 12:00 p.m. (noon) CT on a regular business day, or on a weekend or holiday, will post the next business day at approximately 7:00 p.m. CT
- A pending payment will be posted to your account in real-time. This will stop a scheduled disconnection if not already in progress.

- Can a payment be made on a rotary or pulse phone?

Sorry, no. The system requires a touch-tone phone. If you don't have a touch-tone phone, you can pay online, or call us at 800-401-6402 to speak to a customer service representative. They can then transfer you to a BillMatrix agent to take your payment over the phone.

- What credit cards do you accept?
- The BillMatrix system accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

- Why do I need to register for online access before I can pay?
- For your protection, registration is required to verify the identity of the person making the request.

- Can I pay several different accounts?
- Yes. You can pay multiple accounts. However, a separate service fee will be charged for each transaction.

- How do I get a printed receipt?
- Print out the confirmation screen as a receipt for your records. It contains a confirmation number that you can reference if you have any questions or problems with your payment.

- How will the charges appear on my credit card, debit card or bank statement?
- With credit card and debit card payments, there will be one charge listed for the total of your bill payment and service fee. With checking or savings account payments, you will see two charges on your bank statement: one for your bill payment and one for the service fee.

- Can I make a payment on behalf of a friend or relative?

You can make a payment on behalf of another person only if their account is
associated with your online profile. You can make a
payment over the phone by calling 800-401-6402.

- Can I be charged for non-sufficient funds (NSF)?

Yes. The same rules apply to checking account
payments as a regular check. In fact, if you had a NSF with MGU in the
past 12 months, and you want to pay online, you will only be allowed to pay by
credit card.

- Can I pay more than the amount due on my bill?
- Yes, you can pay more than the amount due. This would result in a credit on your next bill. An example of where you might want to do so, is if you plan to be out of town for a couple of months and won't be able to make your payments.
